Results of Saint Croix Needs Assessment Survey Posted

The results of a Needs Assessment survey conducted for Saint Croix County have been analyzed and the results posted. The Needs Assessment was conducted as part of the process to develop programming for the new Community, Natural Resource, and Economic Development (CNRED) Educator with UW Extension’s Saint Croix County office. The results report is available here: St. Croix County Needs Assessment Final Report.

The results of the survey indicate a priority need in educational programming for strategic planning, business and economic development, and local government education. The Needs Assessment sought to match educational priorities with key development issues in the county.

Specific Governance issues related to leadership skills, budgeting and financial management, intergovernmental cooperation, and decision-making procedures. Specific Economic Development issues included business retention, small business and entrepreneurial support, and business attraction and expansion. Specific Community Development issues strongly related to infrastructure, but also included communications & broadband and environmental impacts from growth.

Next steps will see the development of specific educational activities to support efforts toward the priority issues. The CNRED educator seeks to provide a supporting role relative to existing resources in the county to avoid duplication or overlap of efforts. Moreover, the CNRED educator will remain open and responsive to new and changing needs that arise as conditions change in the county.
